Before the truck shows up

Don't pay to move what you could sell.

Movers charge by weight and volume. Every box you load has a price. Evaluu scans your stuff and tells you what each thing is worth — and what it'll cost to move — so the truck leaves with only the things that earn their seat.

The moment you're in

You're not actually moving things. You're moving money.

"Every box you tape shut is a small bet you'll be glad you brought it."

The truck is booked. The lease is up. There's a stack of boxes between you and the door, and another room you haven't started. You don't have time to research every chair and every set of plates — so you default to "pack it, decide later." And later is the most expensive place to decide.

The math is brutal. Movers charge by weight and volume. Long-haul is a dollar or two a pound. The couch you don't really like? You're about to pay $340 to put it in a new apartment that you'll then replace it in.

Evaluu sits in your pocket while you pack. Point. Scan. See the value. See the move cost. Decide before the tape goes on.

What this looks like in real life

One scan per box, then a clear call.

Scan furniture, electronics, lamps, kitchenware — anything that takes up space on the truck.

What people overpay to move

The most expensive boxes on the truck are the ones nobody opens.

These are the line items the movers won't flag for you. They charge the same to haul a $40 lamp as a $4,000 one.

The couch you've already replaced.

The mid-tier sofa you don't really love. It costs more to truck across town than it's worth as a resale.

Move: $340
Sell: $520

The "maybe I'll use it" kitchen box.

The fondue set. The bread machine. The extra blender. Every cubic foot is paying rent in the truck.

Move: $180
Sell: $240

The bookshelf you don't actually like.

Big, heavy, going to scratch in transit. The new place has different walls. It's worth more to whoever wants it now than to the future you.

Move: $260
Sell: $140

The "I'll figure it out later" pile.

The lamps. The art. The half-good electronics. Some of these are worth real money. Some aren't worth the box. Evaluu tells you which is which — before it goes on the truck.

THREE STEPS

Pack lighter. Land smarter.

Designed to use while you're packing, not after. One scan, one decision, on to the next item.

01 — Scan

Scan room by room.

No spreadsheet. No Google rabbit hole. Just a list that builds itself as you go.

02 — Know

Every item shows its fair resale value next to a ballpark cost to move it. The decision becomes obvious.

Sell · move · donate, tagged in one tap.

03 — DECIDE

Load the truck lighter.

Sell before the truck shows up. List with prices you can stand behind. Donate the rest with a real record. Pay to move only what's worth landing in the next place.

Most users save four figures on a cross-country move.

What you can actually do with it

A move-ready inventory, built in the rooms you're packing.

01

Cut the moving bill before it's quoted.

Less weight on the truck = a cheaper quote. Scan your stuff first, drop what isn't worth bringing, and watch the estimate drop with it.

02

Sell the right stuff before moving day.

Get a defensible asking price for furniture, electronics, and lighting. List with confidence and turn cubic feet into cash before the truck comes.

03

Hand the movers a real inventory.

Export an item-by-item list, with values, for the mover and for your moving insurance declaration. If something breaks or goes missing, you have a record — not a guess.

04

Downsize without the regret.

Moving from a house to an apartment? From a four-bedroom to a two? Know what's worth keeping for the next place — and what you'll be glad you let go of.

05

Land in the new place ahead.

Show up lighter, with a clear sense of what you own, what it's worth, and what you'll want to replace. The first week in the new place is easier when the math already adds up.

"

We were quoted $2,800 to move our two-bedroom across the country. I spent a weekend scanning every room with Evaluu. We sold the couch, the bookshelf, and three boxes of kitchen stuff we never used. The revised quote came in at $1,840 — and we cleared another $1,100 on resale. Best weekend of work I've done in a long time.

Questions people ask first

What you're

probably

wondering.

Most of these come up the first time someone realizes the math. If something isn't here, write to us — we usually reply within a few hours.

"You shouldn't be paying movers to haul stuff you'd rather replace."

  • How fast can I get through a whole apartment?

One bedroom in 20–30 minutes, working room by room. You scan the big stuff (furniture, lighting, electronics, art) and group the small stuff by box. You don't have to scan every fork — just the things big enough to matter on a moving quote.

  • How does it calculate move cost?

Evaluu estimates weight and cubic footage for each item, then applies long-haul and local-rate ranges from major moving carriers. It's a defensible ballpark, not a quote — useful enough to know which items make the truck. Plug in your actual mover's rate and the math gets sharper.

  • Can I share the inventory with the movers and my insurance?

Yes. Every item you scan goes into a private inventory you can export — for the mover's declaration form, for your renter's or homeowner's insurance, or just to share with whoever you're moving with.

  • Where do I actually sell the stuff Evaluu flags?

Wherever you already do — Facebook Marketplace, Craigslist, OfferUp, eBay, local consignment. Evaluu doesn't take a cut and doesn't push you onto a particular platform. You get a price you can stand behind, and you keep all of it.

  • Is it free?

Get started free — scan, value, and tag items at no cost during your move. The export and shared-inventory features (for movers, insurance, and households moving together) are part of our paid tier. You can decide once you've used it.

  • What about sentimental stuff I'm definitely keeping?

Scan it anyway. Knowing the value isn't about selling — it's about insuring it in transit, declaring it correctly to the mover, and knowing what you'd need to replace if something happened. The peace of mind is the point.
